Concert: Henry Rollins Spoken Word 2008

10.27.08 - 11:46pm
mood: meh

It's been about a year since Henry's last show in Toronto, and according to him this show is part of that same tour which hasn't ended yet!
While funny at parts, the show was lacking compared to previous performances.

I think he needs to take a break from touring and needs some interesting shit to happen to him, maybe get kidnapped or something (to take a page from the Chris Rock book of comedy).

Some of the funnier moments included:
* lesson on not listening to Slayer while exercising
* make biological on tree = means pee on tree
* apparently in the U.S. people are opposed to gay marriage because human rectum is a gateway rectum and could lead to people wanting to marry horses (hilarious)

In conclusion, it was entertaining, but not nearly as funny or as captivating a 3hrs of spoken word as he's done in the past.

Formal Fridays

A while back I read about some Yahoo guys that had started a "formal friday" policy, where they would dress nice on Fridays to offset the fact that every other day of the week was their "casual Friday" and they dressed in flip flops and pajamas. I thought it was a funny idea, and considering my exposure to the Japanese salary men who don nice suits every day of the week even when their job is not bay st douche bags, I thought it'd be fun to do our own casual Friday.

I brought the idea up to Qiuli and Solomon who were also familiar with the Japanese Salary Men, and they wanted in on this action too.

So today we classed up the place with our nice suits. People were confused as to why they kept seeing people in suits, and the questions I got ranged from if I had a job interview, a funeral or was attending civil union ceremony : P

It was fun times, and enough people said they wanted in on it, that we think we're going to do this again in a month with even more people.

Movie: Rocknrolla

Guy Ritchie's new movie is in a limited North American release, playing in Toronto, L.A. and N.Y.

We just had a chance to see it and must say it was GREAT. The spiritual successor to Snatch, a great British heist flick with plenty of violence, comedy and plot twists.

Highly recommended checking it out once it's released in more theaters later this month.

1) Beverly Hills Chihuahua - 17.5 M
2) Quarantine - 14.2 M
3) Body of Lies - 13.1 M

Seriously? Do we really want the same populous that made "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" the number one movie in Canada, to cast a vote for a prime minsister today? I fear for our future.
