How good was the show tonight? Well, I have a black eye. I guess it could have been worse, someone could have bitten off my fingers, thrown them on stage, and had Murderface roll them up and smoke them.

Chimaira opened up and were pretty good too.

I need to go ice my eye, so this review is over.

Kyoto - Day 1

06.07.08 - 07:38am
mood: meh

So me and J aka the letter Jay, got lost in a bamboo forest in the Kyoto mountains today. Some parts were so dense and dark we feared for our lives. It was night time by the time we found our way out and back to town. We heard a lot fo strange sounds in there, and are fairly certain ninjas were stalking us in there, leaping from tree top to tree top following our tracks.

Nagoya

Took the bullet train from Tokyo to Nagoya, today. That thing is ridiculously fast, I was getting nauseas starring out the window because everything moved so fast (210km/h).

We got here around 6pm, went out to eat and then took a stroll around our hotel area. I must say from what we've seen so far, this place feels a lot more like Toronto than Tokyo, or Yokohama. It's less cramped and crowded here, and the general vibe on the street was less hectic.

Tokyo - Akihabara Shopping

06.04.08 - 10:45am

Today I had planned on going to Aihabara, Shibuya & Ginzato to do some shopping, however that did not work out. Instead I got sucked into Akihabara and blew the whole day there. I bought a ton of weird and cool toys, lots of souveneirs for everyone back home : )

Mount Fuji

We took a day tour of Mt Fuji today. The drive there was great, because it's an overcast day there were low clouds creeping along the tops of the mountains, and it made them look awesome. Very atmospheric fog, and one of the photos of Japan I had in my minds eye, so I was happy to capture it.

Unfortunately, that cool looking fog also ruined our view of Mt Fuji. We got to station 5, but only got a glimpse of the snow near the peak before the fog enveloped it. Again the fog made for some nice pictures, but I wish we would have had a better view of it.

At the base of Fuji we drove through the Aokigahara forest, which is also called the dark forest, because some parts are so dense they block out the light. And according to wikipedia is the second most popular place to commit suicide in the world, after San Fransiscos Golden Gate Bridge, due to the folk tales of demons, goblins and evil that surround the dark forest.

From Fuji we drove to the nearby town of Hakone (In the original Japanese version of The Ring, that freaky kid was in a well in Hakone!). At Hakone we took a able car ride up a mountain and then took a boat cruise across lake Ashi. It was a really beautiful area, with dense forest and fog creeping over them, cold as hell, but beautiful none the less.

Tokyo: Rappongi Hills

Checked out Tokyo Tower and Rappongi Gills today. Blew 2GB from the upper obbservatory of Tokyo Tower, the view from there was just fantastic. It really makes you realise how unbelivably small any other city you've ever been to is.

In Rappongi we had some chinese food (must learn to make stir fry spinach with garlic [soy sauce, oil with sauteed to a crisp garlic was involved], I did some shopping at a MOCO accessories store called Living Motif in the (awesome knife and fork set, and slate serving tray), and we saw this fantastic outdoor plaza that realy makes you see how incredibly unimagnative and ugly Dundas Square is.
