Yesterday I picked up The Darkness for the PS3 because it looked pretty awesome, plus features Mike Patton of Faith No More/Mr Bungle fame, I had 5hrs of play time with it after work, and enjoyed it thoroughly.
Unfortunately it will be some time before I get back to exploring that game, for today Rainbow Six for the PS3 was FINALLY released after months of delays, and I had to pick it up.

Thus far the game has been awesome, and I'm not even in Vegas yet! (the game starts off in Mexico, you then progress to Vegas while chasing the terrorists). The graphics are awesome, the AI is really good, my teammates do not at all get in the way and actually help me fight quite well. There is nothing more satisfying than planning an assault in a room to rescue hostages and having everything go perfectly when you breach the room!

Media Server

I was looking for a good DLNA media server solution for the past few weeks, and after trying and reading about quite a few different versions, I settled on Tversity for Windows. There were some Linux servers that were not mature enough yet, so I went with the dark side. Regardless even in its early stages Tversity is kick ass. The guy leaves much to be desired as it is very simplified for anyone's mom to use. But break open the command line and XML editor and you can tweak to your hearts content.

Along with my DLNA server I finally got around to configuring my wireless ethernet bridge for the PS3.

With those two key technologies in place I now have access to the extensive collection of music, photos, and movies on the desktop hard drives, wirelessly on the PS3. It works beautifully, I spent a good part of the afternoon watching Southparks MP4 videos streamed directly through the air, to the PS3, output to the plasma. It is so choice, I highly recommend this setup if you have the opportunity.

So this guy at work bought these speakers and they were pretty dope, so I picked up a pair.

They get decently loud, and have 10hrs of battery life. So they are the perfect camping/BBQ/outdoor summer fun, audio accessory.

Kite

About a month ago I got a bad ass kite from Costco, which I've not taken out of the package and flown yet. So it was decided today to take her out for her maiden voyage. We figured that the park near my house with its open field and proximity to the lake winds would be a good place to go. Unfortunately we were completely wrong, there was absolutely no wind there, not even one leaf on the trees was moving out of place. So we then went to another park further away, still no wind. We then went to Centenial figuring its majestic fields would have some wind happening, but no. In an awesome sense of irony, when we were near the power lines on the outskirts of Centenial we finally saw some leaves rustling. It was not a huge gust of wind moving those leaves, but still the rustling was more wind than we had seen all day. So the fact that the wind was by high tension power lines was really lame as we could do nothing about it, stupid uncooperative nature.
