Hot Fuzz is in the same vein of "Shaun of the Dead", this time spoofing american action movies, instead of horror zombie flicks. In the trailer they say that this movie was made by guys that "saw every action movie ever made"; well I don't know about every movie, but they certainly watched the hell out of Point Break and Bad Boys and Bad Boys II, and did Michael Bay proud with their homage (the over the head helicopter camera shot was so dead on I giggled uncontrollably). The movie was hilarious and had over the top, and I mean OVER THE TOP action sequences that were a few shades past inappropriate at parts and I LOVED it. I don't want to ruin it, but a scene with an old lady, taking it to the face... SO good.
Now here are some random musings that are movie related but in no way relevant to a review. I noticed two cameos by people from the original The Office tv show, there was Tim as a police captain from London, and The Office co-creator/writer Stephen Merchant as a man that lost his swan. Not as many The Office cameos as in Shaun, but I still appreciated them sneaking into the movie.
I also have to say that I think the director/writer Edgar Wright hasn't quite gotten the horror genre out of his system seeing as how even in this movie he manages to work in an axe murder, and let us not forget the crazy decapitations in his Grindhouse fake movie trailer last month for "Don't". Perhaps a new Shaun of the Dead is still in his system? We can only hope.

"Have you ever fired your gun up in the air and gone AHHHHHH?"
"By the power of Greyskull!"
