The CRTCs mandate on wireless number portability goes into effect today, and I for one cannot wait to tell my carrier to go fuck themselves while other companies cut me much better deals.

So Tuesday I skipped work due to built up apathy after working all weekend. Went out with friends, had fun downtown, almost bought the oft mentioned bamboo sheets I've been talking about getting, found a new art book store, etc, fun day.

So around 7 I stopped off at the car wash at queensway on my way to mississauga, my car was dirty so I decided to treat the patmobile to the top of the line Ultra Car Wash. We came out of it, car looked good and on we continued with our day.

Later in the evening after meeting up with DC, he noticed the damndest thing, the hood of my car was SCRATCHED to hell. Soft cloth car wash my ass!! It looks like gremlins ripped the clear coat off my babys hood!!

Movie: 300

Awesome movie, Zack Snyder kicks ASS. If you thought his zombie baby from Dawn of The Dead was uncalled for gore, some of the limb removals in this movies battle scenes will really get to you. My cohort for the movie thinks she’s been desensitized to violence because it was so bloody and not the least bit disturbing. So I think we both have issues, because I agree with her, the gore was great.

From Latin class, which covered Greek history, the only thing I remember about the Greco-Persian war and the battle of Thermopylae on which this movie was based is that there were 300 Spartans, and that they were bad asses. Based on that recollection I have to say that this movie was very historically accurate. Hell based on that limited recollection, I'd have to say even the heavy-metal sounding soundtrack played during some of the battles is historically accurate, because I assume Spartans love the heavy-metal : )

The only critique I have is the over use of artificial film grain. I know the whole damn movie is digital, you don't have to over compensate with the excess noise. Other than the grain the movie was visually stunning, so don't take the critique as any sort of condemnation of the movie.

Product: Canon Rebel XTi Digital SLR

Although a nice camera, my time with the Rebel XT has come to a close. It was unfortunate that things didn't quite work out, but it could not meet all of my SLR needs, which is why I've had to trade up for the newer sexier member of the Canon EOS lineup the 10MP Rebel XTi. For anyone considering the XT, please do not take my abandonment of that camera as any sort of indignation towards the XTi's predecessor. The XT was quite good, and very reasonably priced, but for my needs the XTi was a better match. Although with the additional money spent on this camera, I had to cancel my a new lens purchasing plans.

The Long Snow Drive Home

Around 1 o'clock my boss came by and said "Pat get the hell out of here, the weather is going to get insane". People started leaving after that. I still had to wrap up 2 cases whom I had promised to get back to this afternoon, so I had to delay my departure. While working on those cases this douchebag that I had been ignoring caught me on the phone because I picked up without screening the call. He kept me on the phone for two hours before I got rid of his stupid ass, this was after saying "listen I have to analyse a lot of data to find out BLAH, so I'm going to call you back later", he said "no that's alright put me on hold" and so I was stuck there for two hours.

By the time I was finally leaving work at 3:45 the weather was insane, and the QEW was complete ass. So as I was leaving I told my comrade, if I die on the way home, you track down the douchebag from my case #373017 and avenge my death. He agreed to avenge with extreme prejudice, and I was on my way.

It took two hours to drive 55KM, the highway was slow, but there was enough wear and tear on the snow from all the other cars that it was at least manageable. From the highway off-ramp to my house though, that was 5KM of sheer terror. A lot of snow had accumulated on the roads and there were barely any trails carved through the roads from other cars. The car kept trying to veer in random directions, and at one point the car slid at the apex of the icy bridge when the wind was pushing me away. Freakin SCARY.

But the fun didn't stop there, when I reached my driveway, I could not drive into it, there was so much snow that I couldn't just plow my car up the path, I made it in about a half meter and the wheels started spinning on the snow. So I left the car on the side of the road and spent 30min shoveling out my drive way.

After that this guy made himself some hot chocolate and then took a nap for the past few hours.
