Product: Canon Rebel XT Digital SLR

Currently the Rebel XT with the 18mm-55mm Kit lens is listed at Best Buy and Henrys for $829, that's a SUCKERS price. I procured mine for $699!

Concidering that replacing my last camera would cost $500 (the casio z750 is out of production and has been superceded by the z1000 which has a MSRP price of the exact same cost as my original z750, which is $500), taking this Digital SLR for an extra $200, was too good a deal to pass up. Plus we just got our bi-annual bonus at work, which is based on the performance of the company for the last two quarters. Seeing as how we grew financially by 210% since last year, I got a nice little bonus to blow : ) So part went to the camera, and a polarizing filter for said camera, and the rest went to my RRSP and DSP, cause thats the sort of boring shit you're suppose to do with your money when your grown up, or something... I'm told... enough boring talk, lets look at some photos I've taken while experimenting with it these past few days:

Long exposure. I left the shutter open for 15 seconds on this shot. I love the way that the steam from the buildings merges into a soft, malleable looking object.
Another long exposure, this time 20 seconds, zoomed in at the peak 55MM for the lens... memo to self save $1200 to buy a 300mm telephoto for better closeups.

Experiment in macro photography. Guess what it is?

ATM Amendments to the Canadian Bank Act

01.26.07 - 09:23pm

In 2005, Canadians used bank-owned ATMs to make over 700 million withdrawals. They used ATMs to make over 400 million other types of transactions. In doing so, Canadians had to cough up an estimated 420 million dollars to access their own money.

The NDP ATM amendments to the Canadian Bank Act would eliminate fees for using your bank’s ATMs and for using a competing banks ATM.

Ample evidence exists to support this change to the Banking Act.

“Fees for basic services represent only 5 percent of revenues of the big six Canadian banks – hardly critical to the bottom line,” says Layton. “Its working families that are hurt most by these outrageous fees.”

Layton cited examples of banks in the United Kingdom and the United States that have removed fees and not suffered any significant financial set-back.

“TD Bank doesn’t think its American customers should have to pay these fees -- only its Canadian customers. British banks don’t charge these fees either. Why do people in the US and the UK get a break from their banks, but ordinary Canadians get gouged?” asked Layton.

In 2006, the six biggest banks posted profits just over $19 billion.

I have finished grieving over my loss by replacing her with a sexy new model. Will write more about her later, I'm very giddy and must try to sleep now, good night.

I lost my camera sometime between Thursday and Saturday. It could have fallen out of my jacket pocket anywhere, since I covered a lot of ground between that time period.
I guess my work bonus will not be going towards my new laptop but instead I'll have to invest it in a new camera : (

I don't particularly understand why Jenna Jameson is throwing a party in Toronto with Mark Oliver providing the music, but who am I to argue? I'll totally be there.

I'm back from QC, aka land of brie, and guess what, there was snow there...

So I finally got to do some boarding this season, and it was awesome. Also in this post I got to link to my last 4 posts, so bonus.

What can I say, Quebec was such a nice province I've decided to go back and visit it for the second time this month.

What is it about that province that gives it such drawing power? What could it be, the rich history, the people, the food, the culture? Okay so, it's the food, and I'm going back for more cheese curds, see you all next week.

I don't know much about science
My intrests don't take me there
But I know this, as dumb as I am
When I was young, and it was winter
In our yard there use to be snow there

Snowboarding... NOT

My comrade is back from the Scotia so to commemorate his return and the winterness of the season we had planned to go snowboarding today. Unfortunately due to our weather being completely fucked (I'm puting the blame squarely on the United States not having signed on to Kyoto), those plans were cancelled. This was after hearing that Blue Mountain was laying off 1200 people this week due to lack of snow... LACK of snow... in fucking Canada.... CANADA IS LACKING SNOW, WHAT THE FUCK. That was my Lewis Black-esque rant.

This sucks, I welcome our nuclear winter, because at least then we'll have some sort of precipitation, even if it is the ashes of our fallen brothers.

New Cheese For Me

Over the Christmas/New Years festivities I attended several events which prominently featured Brie cheese. I've had this cheese before but never thought much of it. It wasnt that I found it bad, but it was not that captivating either.

After this holiday season though, and my overexposure to it, I can't get enough of the stuff! I'm hooked on it! I just bought a wheel and am enjoying it with my evening tea, MMMMMM tasty cheese bitches!
