The best thing I can say about Monika last night is that she didn't puke in my car again. The worst thing I can say is that the son of a bitch passed out in the back seat of my car while holding a large cup of green tea and spilled the whole thing all over her lap and my car seat!

There were three bands I was looking forward to seeing at the Taste of Chaos festival, The Deftones, Atreyu and Story of The Year. Unfortunately Story of the Year did not show up, which really pissed me off, because now out of the 16 or so bands playing, I was there for just two of them. Had it been a year earlier maybe I would have cared to see Thrice as well, but after that terrible last album of theirs I lost all interest in them.
Atreyu did not disappoint, it was a short set, but awesome none the less. The guitar player was soooo 80's up it was hilarious, but still he knows how to rock that guitar, so I let his shenanigans slide. With a short set they didn't have time for much, they did a good amount of old stuff and two or so tracks from the new album. I hope they come back for a head-lining show of their own soon.
Surprisingly there was a band on the "second stage" which did make an impression, they were called Street Drum Corps. They are a kind of Punk Rock / Blue Man Group mix, which were quite entertaining.
The Deftones were the headliners for festival and were on fire. I was in the moshpit right up in front of Chino the whole time, it was stupidly hot in there. The air conditioning was not turn on, so it got pretty crazy in there. With all the moshing and jumping around and such, I thought I was going to pass out from heat exhaustion. In other words it was AWESOME. I was hoping to hear them play material from the new album they are working on but unfortunately they did not treat us with any new material. What they did play was awesome though, they opened with Feiticeira, which oddly enough I was singing along to in the car right before getting the show : )
They then did a variety of songs from their four albums, and no Engine No 9, but still plenty of songs from their debut album which rocked, I'm sure singing along to the songs combined with the heat was not helping my light headed, ready to pass out feelings, but it was well worth it.

Coming in June, a new PBS series hosted by Brad Pitt, presented by Autodesk: E2 - The Economies Of Being Environmentally Conscious.
On a serious note, the fact that Autodesk are sponsoring this series was an unexpected surprise, good for them. Software companies other than douchebags usually don't go out of their way to sponsor such public things as TV shows, and an environmentally conscious show to boot.
An original series that explores the living vitality of the environment. Eight different topics - from sustainable architecture to water culture to alternative energy to organic farming to recycled clothing and more - are presented in depth in six thirty-minute episodes, challenging us to live smarter, live greener and live with the future in mind.If someone as dreamy as Brad Pitt wants me to care about the economies of the environment then count me in!

How is the new job you ask? Well I'm writing this from my new work supplied laptop, so I'm going to say "it's a pretty damn cool job, I'm very happy. It is so choice, I highly recommend employment here if you have the opportunity".
What's up with that?
It's funny how the mind works sometimes. I was just out taking an aimless drive in the rain, thinking about things, when all of a sudden my mind wondered of to some other topic. Actually, my mind sort of cleared it's self of thoughts, then wondered into this other topic and I miraculously solved a problem that I've been working on for the past month. The solution just sort of materialized in my mind without any effort put forth on my part to solve it.
Which is good in a way because it both, distracted me and helped me find an elegant solution to this programmatic problem that had been haunting me.
I wish I had something more interesting to say after all that, but I don't so I'm going to sleep now.
