Took advantage of this nice, first Sunday of spring, by going out to enjoy nature. Got some photo's, enjoyed the brisk spring weather, got a bit of sun, did some gleaming. Good stuff.
Finally saw Ultraviolet today. Overall I liked the story, but the dialog was weak. The visuals were amazing, very sleek and stylish. The effects were quite good, except for the vehicles. It was strange, the backgrounds were detailed, full on radiosity rendered backdrops. But the vehicles they put on top of them were raytraced objects at best. They did not match nor compliment each others visual styles at all. Also peoples faces had a strange surface blur (not quite smart blur, just a surface blur [had an argument about that while watching the movie]), the surface blur wasn't bad per se, just out of the ordinary so I felt a need to mention it.
Milla looked great in the movie, and solely for the amount of screen time her stomach gets, this movie should win an Oscar. Perfection.

I did not know much about this movie going in, it turned out to be quite enjoyable though.
It takes place during this Norse/viking time period, and tells a story of the legendary Beowulf in search of a troll that's been attacking a Dane settlement.
This was a Canadian production, and I thought was filmed here, but it turns out that it's Greenland that served as the backdrop for the film. Which once again reminds me of the fact that I really need to travel there one day, because the locations are really breath taking.
I really don't have much more to say at this time, except that Grendel's mom scarred me (I may have nightmares).

According to this BBC article, L'Oreal has purchased the Body Shop. Which is great news if you ask me, because the Body Shops environmentally conscious products were nice and all, but really whale oils from their new French owners are really going to help spice up their product lines.
I can't believe we watched more than 50% of this train-wreck of a film.

I have no idea what kind of drugs they were on while making this thing, but obviously, there were large doses involved, unfortunately not large enough to kill them before the thing was released. You know, this movie once again reaffirm my theory that nothing good has ever come out of 1977, and my theory that German's Love Hasselhoff... but I digress... stupid hippy ass 1977
About the only slightly positive thing I can say about the film is that the costumes were interesting and they won an Oscar for them, so there you have it.

Thanks to everyone that came out to the festivities, no matter at which point you joined, I thank thee. Lot's of fun was had.
As Bashtard mentioned, silly pictures we're afoot, so I leave you with a silly photo of my own:

What's up with that?
In other news, this has been a great birthday, just try to take the grin off my face.
Althought I might just throw up, Mon, Jcloth, you know what I mean ; )

On this balmy March day, we decided to run for the hills (ya, that was an Iron Maiden reference ; ) for one last snowboarding excursion. Conditions were what they call "spring conditions" which is a polite term for "stupidly wet". The snow was slush and hard to edge into, meaning that a lot of speed was picked up, and was freaking me out because that is exactly the type of snow I always get hurt on. That's why I took extra care to slow down and not hot dog it today.
Took one run in the half-pipe, and a very wet ride down the middle of a stream carved into one of the trails. Fun, fun wet stuff. I'm done writing since it was an other wise uneventful close to the season.

This weekend, me and a pretty, young, female companion, whom wishes to remain nameless (apparently, she thinks I blab too much on here) anyways, we went to the movies.
The movie we saw was the remake of 1977's The Hills Have Eyes. I saw the original decades ago, and don't remember any of it. If it was as bad as this version, then I feel sorry for 1977.
This movie was so predictable and stupid, I'm already bored of talking about it. I recommend not even seeing it on video.

Well it was a bit cold out there at 6°c but after the first kilometer I built up enough body heat that the rest was nice and not at all bad, in fact I was sweating by the end.
The classic game Marble Madness has been remade with a modern OpenGL rendering engine.
I have fond memories of this game, like the time I rented it for a week and had a blister on my thumb from the badly shapped NES controler. After that week of playing the game, the blister cracked and started bleeding, good childhood memories.
I can ates to the fact that this game is very close to the original, I still get stuck on that cursed stage 10.... I HATE stage 10.

Theres a new project I started this year, but had not wanted to unveil it till now, because frankly, I didn't know if I was going to be able to keep up with it. Now that
This is a small project that I began working on at the start of the year. I have waited this long to unveil it because, well frankly, I didn't know if I was going to be able to keep up with it. Now that we're a few months into the new year, and I've seen that I can maintain the site, I feel comfortable in making a public announcement.
So without further ado, I introduce you to 52 Photos. A simple little site with a simple little mission statement: One year, one photo per week, 52 photos.
I created the site because I wanted to have something that would encouraged me to produce at least one good photo a week. This project has forced me to start taking my camera everywhere, and has forced me to start taking a lot more photos. This obsessive photo snapping has been annoying some friends, but nuts to them, the proof is in the pudding. There's already some nice photos on there, hopefully as the project progresses the photos will get better.

Well I dunno Walt, an 06 Quadcab might be nice, but does it have speed streaks like the Patmobile??
Looking forward to the blogging of the pimpin of your ride.

Earlier this evening, while foraging for food, we found ourselves strolling through the always strollable Yorkville. Where we came upon a most surprising of things.
Now let me preface this by saying that I love Edward Scissorhands, and ice sculptures and Johnny Depp in leather... errr I've said too much... lets get back to the ice sculptures. As I was saying I'm a sucker for awesomely shiny ice sculptures, and lo and behold what did we see in the Yorville Plaza? That's right glistening, shiny, ice sculptures!! You see Yorkville has an Ice Festival that runs from February 23-26, but miraculously on this second week of March, the sculptures still haven't melted and several of them are still on display. So if you find yourself in the area drop by and check them out before this warm March weather melts them away.
I warn you, there's a pun on its way, and here it goes: I'd like to say that there's never been a cooler photo than this one of yours truly, because you see its ice chairs, and I'm in it, being all cool, cool while sitting on ice.... shut up, you know its funny.

After a long search, I introduce you to my new dynamic, closed-back mini headphones, the AKG K27i. I've done a lot of reading of reviews and such as of late, and was set on either these AKG's or some Senheisers. After a taste test, or more accurately after a sound test, the AKG won. They sound much clearer than the similarly priced Senheisers, especially at high volumes, and they have a much fuller sound at quieter decibels, highs come out clearly, and the bass has enough kick to get your head bobbing.

Model: AKG K27i
Type: dynamic, closed-back
Efficiency: 126 dB SPL/V
Frequency range: 11 Hz to 28.5 kHz
Rated impedance: 32 ohms

Movie: Dave Chappelle's Block Party
mood: meh
music playing: Kanye West - Get Em High (feat. Talib Kweli and Common)
For those of you expecting a Chappelle comedy, with him doing stand-up well this is not quite that. It is more of a concert flick. He throws a big party in Brooklyn, has a bunch of singers come down, and he runs around the whole movie, being funny as is his nature. But don't be mistaken the movie is about the music.
On that note I'd like to say, I enjoyed it. On another note I'd like to say, god damn, could Kweli sneak into any more songs? He was figuratively in like 20 different peoples songs, literally maybe 4, but figuratively like 20!
I mean sure, I expected some Blackstar action since Mos Def was in the house. But this guy was all over peoples tracks. Get High with Kanye was dope, so you know, I'm not complaining, I'm just pointing that out.

Book: All Messed Up - Unpredictable Graphics
mood: meh
music playing: Story Of The Year - We Don't Care Anymore
Browsing around the book stores today, I came across this intersting title. It seemed nice and I wanted to purchase it, but I'd already blown my load on three four (but onyl three were for me) other books, so I had to leave it on it's shelf, to wait for another time : (
Mean while, if you are into the grungy graphic design style, definetly check it out.

For a guy that graduated with an Arts and English diploma, spending 2 days learning about the math of statistics, is about as much fun as getting a concussion, but without any of the fun side effects of the concusion, like the dizziness, and blurryness.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE KIDS:
Kids, that analogy was merely for humor, concussions are never fun, try to avoid them, they hurt like a bitch.
