Catnip? More like Patnip... For The Ladies

01.25.06 - 01:56pm
mood: meh

I've always suspected I was irresistible to the ladies. And this article just proved me right.
I hope everyone went out there and voted. As a small favour to me though, don't discuss the topic any further with me.

I have such little interest in engaging with people in discussions about this topic, that as of late I have been automatically enacting Godwins Law whenever someone tries to talk to me about the elections. That usually shuts them up pretty fast, makes an awkward moment, and allows me to slip out of the room unnoticed : )

[addendum]
Now that the results are in. It looks like things went just as I had hoped. The Douchebags now have a minority government, which means that they can't do any serious damage. Another bright side is that with such a weak minority, we can look forward to another set of elections in a year or two. Huzza, here's for Jim Harris in 2007/8!

The Results for Toronto:
PartySeatsPercentagePopular Vote
Conservative00.0263,703
Liberal2087.0564,854
N.D.P.313.0226,657
Green Party0046,011
Marijuana Party00311

From this chart I'll just say that it is quite ammusing to me how much Toronto hates the Conservatives, 0 seats, thats AWSOME. Although it saddens me that the Marijuana party missed their target by 109 votes, you'll get em next time boys.

As someone currently reading Greenpeace - The Inside Story: How a Group of Ecologists, Journalists, and Visionaries Changed the World. I'll just rebuttal Walt's post with "shut up ya face!" : P
Book Description From Booklist
A handful of pacifists and antinuclear activists came together in Vancouver to protest atmospheric atomic bomb tests and in 1970 transformed themselves into the fledgling environmental movement's gutsiest and most galvanizing protest group. Greenpeace rapidly evolved into an international association that made ecology a household word, brought the "save the whales" effort to world headlines, and outed the ocean dumping of radioactive and toxic waste, among many other revolutionary accomplishments. Journalist Weyler, who emigrated to Canada to protest the Vietnam War, was one of the founders, and now presents a gripping insider's chronicle of Greenpeace's daring high-seas protests of illegal whaling operations, exposure of the brutal hunting of baby harp seals, and paradigm-altering success in disseminating a vision of the sanctity of life. Weyler also charts painful conflicts among a remarkable group of intense individuals, whom he divides into the "mystics and the mechanics," including Greenpeace's impassioned and spiritual first leader, the newspaper columnist Robert Hunter, whose courage, "unorthodox shrewdness," and brilliant use of the media made Greenpeace a force to be reckoned with. Weyler's capacious, affecting history is stirring testimony to the power of committed citizens.

Introducing Ultraviolet:
Milla Jovovich in skin tight leather swinging around samurai swords and semi-automatic machine guns...
In case I've not made it abundantly clear for years now, I'll reiterate, I fuckin love Milla! And I am very excited by this movie. It looks very Matrix-ish, and the trailer features a Rob Dougan song, and another song whoms title I don't currently know, but I liked it. So if anyone can enlighten me as to it's title please do so.

Book: Cult of iPod

As a fellow cult member I must say this book looks quite interesting. I would buy it just for the cover alone : )

Book Description:
Wired news editor Leander Kahney follows up his bestselling The Cult of Mac with The Cult of iPod, a comprehensive look at how Apple's hit iPod is changing music, culture, and listening behavior. The Cult of iPod includes the exclusive back story of the iPod's development; looks at the many ways iPod's users pay homage to their devices; and investigates the quirkier aspects of iPod culture, such as iPod-jacking (strangers plugging into each other's iPods to discover new music)...

The Updates Are Coming

mood: meh

To everyone asking about trip updates. Don't worry they are coming, connectivity for the laptop has been dificult to find so that's why I haven't been able to post any of the data on it for everyone to enjoy.

To hold everyone over though here is a quick tip. Beaches that are all shelly, and not sandy, are not good places to fall. Although this the lady makes it look good, trust me, its not a good scene in real life (stupid scratches and cuts).

Saltwater Lesson Learnt

01.05.06 - 10:34pm
mood: meh

I've Learnt an important summer lesson today. That would be that when one spends 7 hours in the ocean without taking a break, all of that salt water seems to have some detrimental side effects on ones body.

My most sensitive of body regions, such as my nipples and nads feel like they are on fire right now. Well not just those parts, my whole epidermis in general, feels like it's been industrially exfoliated for 7 hours. Yes, that salt water is very, very rough.
On the bright side though, the afore mentioned nipples, nads, and epidermis, have lost like 3 layers of skin and are positively glowing, and shining with their exfoliated goodness. My skin is as soft as a kitten in a warm blanket right now. Any the ladies that wish to verify the softness, please feel free to do so at your earliest convenience.

I´m on the Black Island, which is neither black, nor an island, but I digress. I´m typing this message at an internet cafe, sitting about 50 meters from the home and burial place of Pablo Neruda. I have lots of pictures to post in here later.

Hope everyone is well. I just checked my gmail and not a lot of you have written me, so screw you jerks, you very well might be on my "didn´t write pat list", and trust me that is not a list you want to be on.

It´s 31°c right now, so I´m just rubbing that in, enjoy the cold suckers.

Water Gleaming

Went water gleaming today. It was a fun yet painful time.
This photo of my foot is from the painful part:

The story behind the pictures is as follows. At the end of the day, I jumped on a last wave back to shore (I might add that I was riding it in like a pro). Then when I was but a few meters from shore, a low rock formation snuck up under me. As I paddled with my foot I slapped the top part of it right against the rough rocks. This gash is a souvenir, of what was other wise a fun day riding the waves.

This is the Pacific Ocean, it's been 20 years since I've been anywhere near it. I was too tired to go in today, just dipped my feet in it. But tomorrow I shall partake of it's waves.

Fig Tree

01.01.06 - 06:25pm
mood: meh

This is a photo of a fig.

I picked this fig from a tree I planted when I was 5. The tree was planted by the back wall of my grandfathers backyard. We went to his old house today, and saw the fig tree flourishing behind our beloved apricot tree, where trace remains of our tree house can still be seen. His house is demolish now as a new house is being built in it's place. But the backyard is still fairly intact.

It's funny how the city as a whole I don't remember, but certain places and things I recall vividly. His house, and yard, are some of the things I recall vividly.

On that apricot tree, me and my cousin once made an elevator for our tree house. The elevator consisted of a wicker chair that had been thrown out, and some rope. As any good scientist will tell you, it is never a good idea to test an experiment on yourself, so we enlisted my little sister to test out the elevator. What we learnt from that experiment is that an old broken wicker chair is not strong enough to support anyone, not even a small child. The elevator broke while we hoisted here up, and we ended up dropping my sister from the tree house. Needless to say my mom killed us when that taddle-tail ran crying to her.
