An Ellusive Day Long Date

Being that Liz is in school all week, and I work through the weekend because of my stupid schedule. We never get to spend any days together. It's always a few short hours at night, after work that we get to go out. Great hours spent together mind you, but brisk to say the least. Now with her upcoming exams, those few brisk night time moments are going to have to be even brisker because she will need to concentrate on all that crazy studying that needs to be done for said exams.
That is why this past weekend I decided to take Sunday (yesterday) off work, so we could spend a whole day together, before she became inundated with all that school work.

There were some loosely put together plans when we left for the day, but since we didnt really care about the planned activity as much as spending time together, we didn't really adhere to the plans. So eventually we scrapped the original plans altogether and decided to have a nice picnic instead. We went to a Japanese restaurant for the appetizers which consisted of various types of rolls, and then to a Chinese restaurant for the main course of two, thats right two (livin' large!) types of noodle dishes. With food on hand, we drove down to the Lake Ontario waterfront to find a nice park to picnic in. We looked through Port Credit, Oakville, and all those other lake side locations, till we finally found a nice quiet park, that wasn't full of families and kids running around causing a ruckus. At this park, we found a great spot right by the water on these big rocks that were lining the shoreline, they were a bit hard for sitting on, but the view and location were well worth it.

Being a lazy, dog dangling from sock, sort of Sunday afternoon. We took our time eating, talking, relaxing, and enjoying our nice secluded spot, in fact we may have dozed off for a bit we were so comfortable there. We had to leave once dusk hit though, because the clouds that had started to creep into the overhead sky began to pour on us. Although we were at first happy with the romantic thought of watching the rain come down over the lake, we quickly realized that being soaked to the bone was not that great of an idea. So we quickly packed up our things and ran back to the car. Determined to watch the rain, and lightning show, we decided to take a drive and find a nice park, fjord or other such place that would allow us to watch the sky. Since the city, with its bright light pollution is no place to watch the night sky, we took a drive to the country side. Where it turns out that finding any sort of park is next to impossible, after driving forever, down dark country roads, we ended up somewhere in Cookstown. Where a small break in the fields of farms gave way to a small spot where we could enjoy the sights and sounds of the thunder storm. And enjoy it we did.

I think thats enough writing for now though. I'll wrap up by saying that at last spending a whole day together, was great, I only wish we could do it more often.
