2005 Canadian Expo

How do you waste $210.30 in one table within 6 minutes? I'll tell you how, the same son of a bitch with the awsome art books booth from the ComicCon, was at this convention. He had two Ashely Woods books which I did not have, one is a 10 pound sketchbook, thick enough to choke a horse. The other books I procured from this vendor were two art books by Kim Hyun Tae of MagnaCarta fame.
Do I have buyers regret? Hell no I love these books, I'll just go without food for the rest of the month, and it's back to normal plain water, none of that fancy flavoured stuff.

The other horror section of the Expo was as great this year as last. I met Elvira, got a picture with Candymann, yelled "HEY TROY" at Counselor Troy so she would turn her head, and I snapped her picture. I didn't talk to, but I saw the original R2-D2. And I met the chick that plays Lois Lane on Smallville. Toxie from Troma was there, as well as some B-Movie scream queens.

It was a great show, the amount of nerding out we did was enough to last us well into next year.

I've been waiting for Jabber to catch on for years now. So that I could finally ditch ICQ and not go the MSN route since they are evil incarnate. Theres about 4 people actively left on my ICQ list and they say the only reason they stick around is to talk to my stuborn ass, which I appriciate.
Now that gmail is launching a Jabber client, I have a feelign that the network is really going to take off, and I'll finally have people on my instant messanger list again : )

The past hour of using their service has been a pleasure, hopefully more than 2 ppl will be on it soon : )

[addendum] Just got this from the nice chaps at the talk.google server: (23:19:02) gmail.com: The broken link has been fixed. Thanks for being our first users!

Aeon Flux Trailer Released

08.20.05 - 05:16pm

music playing: From Autumn To Ashes - Milligram Smile
The disapointingly bland looking, live action, Aeon Flux trailer is out now.

The least I was hoping for out of this was a movie with some style, and visual flare. After Sin City, some DAMN flare is the least we could ask for in a movie based on such a visualy distinct cartoon.

I hope the irony of this article written for Animation World, by Aeon Flux's creator Peter Chung, back in the 1998, is not totally lost on the people responsible for this movie.

Senze Magazine Interviews Benedikt Taschen

Senze fetish fashion magazine, has published an interview with the man behind one of my favourite book publishing houses. Benedikt Taschen, of Taschen Publishing. The man that thought we should have beautiful art books at an afordable price.

(Although I like the guy, I feel compelled to include an image from another section of the magazine instead of the picture of him, because... well... look at her!)

DND Etiquette

08.09.05 - 10:24pm
mood: Irritated

When someone is in DND mode in their instant messanger program, it means "DO NOT FUCKING DISTURB" because that person may just have fucked up 756 domains and they might be a bit busy triping balls trying to fix it. So you should just STFU and leave them alone till they get off DND mode, it's quite a simple procedure to grasp.

And I haven't been able to get the beat from the song, out of my brain all day.

What's up with that?

Clearing Throat For An I Told You So

Now that my throat is clear I'll say:
It looks like Bashtard is enjoying the quality Hyundai craftmanship

As a former Hyundai Accent owner, I'd like to take this moment to say "I told you so, sucker".

Got My Windows Tinted Today

The tinting looks so good on the Matrix, that I think it's safe to say that Xzibit would be proud of how pimp the car looks.

An Ellusive Day Long Date

music playing: Massive Attack - Mezzanie
Being that Liz is in school all week, and I work through the weekend because of my stupid schedule. We never get to spend any days together. It's always a few short hours at night, after work that we get to go out. Great hours spent together mind you, but brisk to say the least. Now with her upcoming exams, those few brisk night time moments are going to have to be even brisker because she will need to concentrate on all that crazy studying that needs to be done for said exams.
That is why this past weekend I decided to take Sunday (yesterday) off work, so we could spend a whole day together, before she became inundated with all that school work.

There were some loosely put together plans when we left for the day, but since we didnt really care about the planned activity as much as spending time together, we didn't really adhere to the plans. So eventually we scrapped the original plans altogether and decided to have a nice picnic instead. We went to a Japanese restaurant for the appetizers which consisted of various types of rolls, and then to a Chinese restaurant for the main course of two, thats right two (livin' large!) types of noodle dishes. With food on hand, we drove down to the Lake Ontario waterfront to find a nice park to picnic in. We looked through Port Credit, Oakville, and all those other lake side locations, till we finally found a nice quiet park, that wasn't full of families and kids running around causing a ruckus. At this park, we found a great spot right by the water on these big rocks that were lining the shoreline, they were a bit hard for sitting on, but the view and location were well worth it.

Being a lazy, dog dangling from sock, sort of Sunday afternoon. We took our time eating, talking, relaxing, and enjoying our nice secluded spot, in fact we may have dozed off for a bit we were so comfortable there. We had to leave once dusk hit though, because the clouds that had started to creep into the overhead sky began to pour on us. Although we were at first happy with the romantic thought of watching the rain come down over the lake, we quickly realized that being soaked to the bone was not that great of an idea. So we quickly packed up our things and ran back to the car. Determined to watch the rain, and lightning show, we decided to take a drive and find a nice park, fjord or other such place that would allow us to watch the sky. Since the city, with its bright light pollution is no place to watch the night sky, we took a drive to the country side. Where it turns out that finding any sort of park is next to impossible, after driving forever, down dark country roads, we ended up somewhere in Cookstown. Where a small break in the fields of farms gave way to a small spot where we could enjoy the sights and sounds of the thunder storm. And enjoy it we did.

I think thats enough writing for now though. I'll wrap up by saying that at last spending a whole day together, was great, I only wish we could do it more often.
