DC Moving Day

Today DC moved from one extreme to another. From the farthest eastern reaches of the Toronto Transit Commision, to the most western reaches of Mississauga Transit.
Thanks to my weight training regiment, moving those boxes and a certain armoire, was no problem.

Now I have to apologize, and admit that I can't think of a way to make a post about moving day more exciting so I'm just going to cut my loses now, and wrap this up.

Moving boxes dries out your hands like nobodied business. What's up with that?

This right here is why I, so badly, want to pick up a Mac. OSX 4 just seems like such a fun environment to program in.

While playing with a Mini the other day at Best Buy, this little gem run from the console, sealed the deal for me:
locate php
php: /usr/local/php

Just thinking about the posibilites of using my fav language with the tasty OSX 4 API's excites me in very unchristian ways.

Movie: Haute Tension (High Tension)

This past evening, myself, Monika and some other ruffians, went to see this French horror/suspense movie called High Tension.

Being a suspense movie, I'm bound by ethics to say absolutely nothing about what happens. So I'll just mention some generalities of the movie. It was gorey, freaky, and eventful. If you've ever wondered what sort of damage a cement cutting saw could do to a human... well your questions will be answered... in disgusting detail. In fact the gore factor was so high that I think they've ruined lesbians for me for at least the next week(well maybe business week... well maybe for the rest of the night...).

Playstation 3 E3 Debut

They've unveiled the PS3 and it's breath taking.

Realtime: sub-surface scattering, volumetric smoke and fire rendering, fluid dynamics, HDRI lighting, and a ton of other effects are now possible, at an incredibly high detail. So much so, that they've had to include dual HDO outputs, just so we can appreciate the image quality.
I think I'm going to shed a tear, I knew the Cell processor was going to do amazing things, but this is just beyond all expectations.

The attempted and failed install of SUSE got me so mad that I punched my own gums in a fit of rage (seriously, people can verify this)

You'd think that a full CD would come with at least a few of the core files needed for a most minimal of installs, so that the needed packages can be downloaded manually afterwards.

But no! This POS OS, after wasting an undermined amount of our time just getting the 60mb base image to START the install, it then automatically goes into "downloading 500mb worth of packages" mode.
We said "fuck it", and left it downloading. Some time in the middle of the night, it crapped out at 48%.

Yay SUSE, it's YASTastic.

After work today Monika came to pick me up from home, and drove me down to the car dealer for picking up of my new auto.

After that we went to my moms work left Mon's car there and drove my mom home. Then Mon (not mom) and myself went down to Williams, where we met up with Chris who wanted to see my new ride, and some other people.

And now I'm back home. Fun day indeed.

The new car is so awsome to drive. I have no idea how to use the cruise control, but just the fact that those controls are there, makes me giddy : )
The sound system in it is decent, I'm going to leave the stock speakers up front and put the Fosgates in the back, along with the 12" woofer. Monika put on the AirPlay on her iPod and it sounded pretty good, minus her gay music (VNV Nation my ass). When we hit a red light, I dug out my pod and cranked up some House of Pain, for the purpose of kicking it old school, noooch.

And it's insane how little gas this wastes. After a whole evening of driving the stick has barely moved from the very top of the gauge (heh I said Gauge).

I'm thinking of going for a pre-bed time drive to enjoy... the drive. But I won't, time for bed, good night.

While some suckers have to pay the taxman. Today, this mofo got a spanking wad of cash in the form of a tax return cheque.

That's right baby $32.00!! The lapdances are on me boys! ...of course I kid, a person of my high stature in the community would not know that $32 will only get you 1 song worth of dance... err I meant to say a person of my high stature in the community would not know how much such things cost... yes *cough* that's the ticket.

Just face it, the only good SUSE spells it SUZE and caps it with Randal, although some would dispute even that fact.

The Mellisa Virus

While recently doing a virus scan, I was reminded of the fact that the Mellisa Virus was named after a Florida stripper whom the Virus writer fancied.

This led me to the logical conclusion that I should start a new NX-Project_codenames list with similarly themed code names. Why do this you ask? Because a content managment system codenamed Cytheria ammuses me to no end : P
