FRED DURST GET OUT OF MY BRAIN!!

I think Fleshbot best cover my sentiments, regarding the Fred Durst sex photos.
"Yes, we already knew the Fred Durst sex tape was technically "stolen", not "hacked" but we'll still never, ever be able to go back and un-see his penis, so the distinction is largely an academic one at this point."
In other music news: Head, has left KoRn, because of conflicts with his born again christianity. While crappy, in that a founding member and childhood friend of the band has left. This is still not as bad as it could have been. We still got Munky on guitars, and I'll take him over Head any day of the week.
The rest of the band is going strong, still working on the new album. After that dreadful "greatest hits" album that they had to put out, their contract with Reprise/Sony was fulfilled, and they've since left the label. They were having some differences of opinion, you see.

In The Zone... Cognitive-wise

Great read about that special time when you're so focused on a task that you enter the zone (also known as Flow):
When an individual is engaged in a well defined task of his own choosing that is both challenging and within his capacities, he will experience "optimal experience" during its performance. This is 'flow.'

Reign In Blood

Although I can't see myself playing the album much, if ever at all. I feel oddly compeled to put Slayer's Reign in Blood album on the iPod, just because I have a feeling that one day a moment will arise where it will be the PERFECT thing to play.
Slashdot has a story warning of potentially evil new windows virii that attack at the kernel level and might be impossible to clean up with traditional av/spy/ad programs.

Since these rootkits are the worst thing since Bob Sagget, I think my new years resolution of not running any windows apps as root is finally going to start paying off.

An update from Feb 12th, on the 4g page at ipodlinix.com, reveals some great progress being made:
  • Kernel Starts
  • Piezo works
  • LCD works (inc. Backlight)
  • IDE works
  • Input works (hold doesn't)
  • Podzilla runs
I'd like to be the first to say that this is really exciting news. But since I noticed the news update 5 days after it happend, I'm most likely not the first : P

ps. nilss is one crazy son of a bitch.

Ferret-topia

We just adopted 2 new baby twin sister ferrets! We got them from a Ferret Shelter (animal shelter for ferrets). Someone abandoned them along with their mom and 3 siblings in a park, the mom and 3 siblings didn't make it after they came back tothe shelter, so these 2 sisters are the sole survivors of the family : (

They are cute tiny brown teddy-bear ferrets, and since they are twins the first obvious name choice for them was Marry-Kate and Ashley. But that brilliant idea was vetoed, so the hunt for good names is still on.

Nerding It Up With Porter

Or should that read "Nerd It Up With Porter"?

I've just spent the past little while playing around with the Porter Stemming Algorithm, and I must say I'm quite impressed with it. For those not in the know:
The Porter Stemming Algorithm is a process for removing the commoner morphological and inflexional endings from words in English. Its main use is as part of a term normalisation process...
Basically what it does is break down english words to their base stems, by removing suffixes and other wacky inflections.

I hear you asking, why would one want to normalise words down to their root? Well, thats simple. If we take into account that: Its main use is as part of a term normalisation process that is usually done when setting up Information Retrieval systems., then we can deduce that I plan on implementing Porter's Stemming Algorithm into an information management application that is currently under development. Those of you in the know, know what I'm talking about ; )

Proxies, birthdays, and soup

At work today our proxy server crashed which led our internet access to be down for about 15min, it was horrible, we couldn't browse anything externally. Now I know how those poor kids over at Pathway feel. My condolences fellas : P

In other news we went out for Darksydes birthday earlier tonight, good times was had, there was some nice gothy trim over at the Funhaus. Will there be equally nice trim at the Phoenix tomorrow? We will have to wait and see.

Theres no soup in this post, I lied about that in the title, because frankly it seemd a little short with 2 words. Although for this guy, a nice creamy asparagus soup always hits the spot.
