Todat was an auspicious last day in Whislter. We went through our favourite runs and then headed up to the peak for the last run of the day. Today, thanks to the snowfall from the past few days, the Peak to Creek run was open, ungroomed, but open none the less. Chris and I got seperated on there pretty quickly and I didn't see him till I got to the bottom of the mountain. The route I took down was pretty rough due to the ungroomed nature of the snow. After grinding through some pretty steep ice covered drops, I spotted a cool bowl just off the trail and dropped into it. From the bowl I was led into the woods where I did some back country riding for about a half hour before making my way back down to the main trail.
Riding through the trees and dodging hidden snow covered rocks is pretty damn fun and nerve wrecking. I almost wiped out twice after hitting small burried rocks. If not for the helmet I would have been quite freaked out about those obstacles.
Last time I did the Peak to Creek it took me about 3hrs to get through it, this time only 2hrs. That's one hell of an improvement if you ask me. I wish I had another week here to improve my riding and cut that time down to an hour. But alas my time here is done, and it was an awsome last run down the mountain.
After the runs closed, I headed back to the hotel and crashed for far too long, didn't get up for dinner till like 8pm.
While out for said dinner, we talked to this chick from the exotic land Callingwood, Ontario. She has been living out here for three years, and has been coming here for 6 years. She said that this has been the worst season she had ever seen weather wise. She then started bitching about global warming and this thing she saw on The Learning Channel, and basically totally hippied out on the conversation (damn BC, hippies out everyone that stays for too long!).
Now it's time to finish packing and get ready to leave tomorrow morning. Next time I post on the blog I will hopefully be back in the sanity of the Eastern Standard Time Zone.
The final riding playlist:
