Grimm has the bag

My trusty old bag started falling apart on me, and was certainly not capable of carrying my new baby, along with all my books, magazines, and "other" things.
Since the bag was no longer able to perform it's duties, it was necessary to buy a replacement for it, so I don't wanna hear any bitching after this blog is posted.

When it comes to laptop bags the soup de jour seems to be those man purse/messenger bags, which in my opinion are so passé it's not even funny.
What I wanted was a nice plain looking backpack that could accommodate the laptop and 15 or so liters of volume. The most highly recommended bag I found on my quest was the Metro-Clean model, made by Gravis(the skate shoe company), unfortunately it seems like EVERYONE in the Greater Toronto Area, stopped carrying Gravis bags. So that nice bag went bust. Next on the list were Burton laptop bags, which were god awful looking bags at ridiculously expensive prices. Then I checked out some Oakley bags, which while nice looking were also stupidly expensive( >= $199). Just as I was getting ready to give up and wrap all my belongings in a hobo type satchel, I found a wicked bad bag made by Dakine.

The bag in question is the Dakine - Street 101. It boasts some great features and a sub $99 price tag, so I snatched it up in a second.
Dakine - 101 Backpack
  • back access music center
  • padded laptop sleeve
  • front organizer
  • molded CD player pocket with cord port
  • molded PDA and cell phone pockets
  • multiple interior organizers
  • fleece lined sunglass pocket
All my gear fits in there wonderfully, and the back access music center, with it's molded CD player pocket and built in CD wallet is so cool.

Let's just say that you're an insanely good looking guy, with great hair, and a wining personality, who STILL has yet to move out. You continue to dream of eventually moving out with your friend, but Mr Spendy McDouchebag, goes and wastes his money on more RAM when he already has more than the total ammount of RAM in all of Nigeria (per capita).

Whatever

The bitch runs 3D Studio as well, so quit your boohooing. I'll post some Brazil benchmarks later on in the day.

And did I happen to miss the part where someone other than myself even bothered to look into possible dwellings? I'm not really feeling commitment over here on my end. I even have my colour schemes and decor ideas all planned out. So to me all these waffling accusations seem to be poorly misplaced.

P.S. Happy 4/20 and all that jazz. And happy birthday Rudy, Finch and Hitler. Hey Hitler, how's the pineapple?

She's not the top of the line, but was quite affordable(relatively speaking), and will get the job done till I get an Alienware ; )

I just watched the last 10 minutes of an episode of CSI, and it only took 10 mins for them to piss me off so insanely much. Why the fuck don't they get the "science" part out of the way all together and get some guy and his loyal unicorn to come in and solve the crimes? Cause at least that way they could stop making up bullshit forensic science and just explain things away by saying its a fantasy show, a la Xena or some such crap.

Anyone remember Homicide: Life on The Streets? Now that was a good depiction of a crime scene investigation, and it had a proper, realistic depiction of forensic science. Shit even Quincy was more realistic than CSI, and he would miss half the clues the first time he investigated anything!

Ya, that's what I said. But the douchebags I'm working for are still screwing with me and haven't taken me off probation or given me benefits. But as soon as I get more reliable employment, I'm so out of here like the proverbial prom-dress.

B.B.Q. Cliff Huxtable style(aka out In the cold!)

Temperature in Toronto this fine evening: -1°c, the perfect temperature for Chris to have a B.B.Q. No, wait I take that back, it was terrible weather for B.B.Q'ing, it did my cold no good to be out there for that long, freezing my ass off! But I must admit his B.B.Q'ed foodstuff was quite tasty. He had these burger patties with sauted onions and bacon inside the meat!! Toped off with some chedda[sic], it was to die for... which I just might from how bad this cold has gotten :(

My whining aside, it was lots of fun and we should try that again some time in the summer. Here's some photos from tonight:
Photo of some of us chillin on the couch
From left to right: Avril, Newt, Mon(Double A), Pat's index finger giving Double A a wet willy, Aaron's finger giving her "bunny ears"

Aaron making a "silly face", yours truly contemplating whether or not to get up for another burger

After the B.B.Q. I went over to DC's for purposes of some tax paperwork for the business, that needed tending. Whilst over there, I kicked Rob's ass at Amplutide, which Rob you ask? take your pick, WAHAHAHAHAHAAH. It felt good after Mellisa so thouroghly whipped my ass at it. A bit more practice and I think I'll be able to take her on.

Movie: Hellboy

In my opinion Hellboy was a good movie. And now let's get the female perspective of it: "It was good, and the cats were cute!" raves Monika.
So there you have it, male and female consensus. Other then some issues with fire and clothes not burning we thought it was a top notch comic to movie conversion. My only complaint was that there was not enough Selma Blair screen time, and certainly not enough Selma Blair skin on screen, if you catch my drift. I mean her clothes were gone, they could have shown at least a BIT of Selma T&A. Damn that hauntingly captivating mysterious dark stranger, at this pace we're never going to see her sweater bunnies.

Daylight ass time

All day I've been confused as to what time it is, I can't trust my god damn cell phone time, and I couldn't get a straight answer out of the clocks downtown cause they were in military time and who the hell knows if 18:00 is an hour ahead or behind. I say bah humbug to this whole pagan ritual of toying with time.
It now seems to be a yearly ritual for Henry Rollins to come to Toronto during the March/April spring season. And he once again chose to appear at the University of Toronto's Convocation hall. A hall, which has the most horrible, wooden, back/posterior destroying, seats, in the history of bad seats. He spoke for close to three hours on such a wide range of subjects that I can't possibly remember or mention them all in my review, so what follows are two or three topics that poped into my head right away.

Rollins was as funny and entertaining as ever. He talked about his countries buffoon of a president, Mr. Bush, and the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. As well as their space program, and the fact that the Mars photos were as impressive as the ones in that Val Kilmer movie that they took in the Mohave Desert with a red filter equipped camera.

Another favourite topic of Rollins is his quest for the his "dream girl", one which is hot, crazy smart (think nerd), appreciates good literature, and has great taste in music. Unfortunately that hunt is going very poorly in L.A. where he currently resides. And from my own similar quest I can vouch that the hunt in the Tdot is just as crappy as in L.A. His diagnosis of the problem was that he was destined to die old and alone, but fortunately he has perfected his masturbatory technique to the point where he thinks he's going to pass out. Kudos to him on that feat, I guess practice does make perfect ; )

He also spoke about a strange musical project involving him William Shatner, Ben Folds, and the guitarist for Kyus/King-X. Look for that on the new William Shatner album coming out later this year.

Like I said he had a lot more material but that's all I'm writing down. If you want to find out more check out this review of Rollins 2004 tour, or pick up his new spoken word DVD. This review is over.

Oliver Stone's Comandante

For anyone that missed Oliver Stone's Fidel Castro documentary, Comandante, last week on Newsworld. You have another chance to see it as CBC Newsworld is going to be re-airing it Friday, April 2 at 10:00pm.
I'd like to give a kudos to CBC for airing the movie after the American -- Time Warner owned -- TV channel HBO pulled the plug on it because they didn't like the way it portrayed Castro (ie. not as an "evil doer", as Bushy would like to see)

The Globe and Mail has a good article about the movie including a conversation with Oliver Stone.

A choice quote from The Globe article follows:
"The Americans have a view of Castro that is unfortunately rigid, he is a man who's seen a lot. Let's give him his chance to speak. I think they're worried they might like him."
Stone continues. "They don't like to listen. They don't want to give Hussein, or anybody, more airtime. The Vietnamese were faceless -- you make the enemy faceless, you can obviously get away with that for a long time."
