How sad, renowned photographer, Helmut Newton died in a car crash on Friday. He was 83 at the time.

Alas this probably means that his book "Sumo", (that I would kill to own) is going to go up in price from it's current $3,000 price tag. But I suppose the rich jerk that can afford to buy it, will have much more appreciation for it than I.

Chuck Palahniuk in Playboy

According to chuckpalahniuk.net. A short story by Chuck, called GUTS, is going to be published in the March 2004 issue of Playboy magazine.
That's some very cool news. Great writing (it's Chuck so I'll just assume) and some very well Photoshoped®, nude females. What a superb combination.

Halle Berry hates dolphins

Just in case I've not made my point clear in the past: I despise Halle Berry, despise her with a passion!! I use to think Storm was boring and annoying in the X-Men cartoon. But then Halle took over and brought that character into a whole new world of boring and annoying. And now she turned her astonishing talents, of sucking, towards one of the comic book characters that first got this guy to go ga-ga over PVC, thats right I'm talking about Catwoman. Follow the link to see Halle as Catwoman then continue reading.
Okay, now that you saw the picture of her in costume, I ask: Is she anywhere near the Batman Returns, Michelle Pfeiffer level of hotness? HELL NO!! Is she an abomination of all that is Catwoman? Yes, Yes she is. Should someone beat Halle, the costume designer, the director, and anyone else associated with the movie with a shovel, till they agreed to stop production on the movie and burn any footage they have filmed? Yes, Yes they should.

And Yes, Halle really does hate dolphins. Have you ever heard of anyone hating dolphins? Me neither. What kind of sick person would not like dolphins.

Writing two blogs about how lame blogs are? I would point out that the irony of appearing in a blog to denounce them is about as lame as Sideshow Bob appearing on television to denounce it; but I don't think I need to point it out. Instead I'll just say: What's up with that?

Besides, if Wesley "The Bullet" Crusher keeps a weblog, then you know its hip!!

So whilst out tonight, at Demitres, I saw this girl that I went to highschool with. I can't remember her name which is weird cause I'm Mr Memory... but damn was I into her, we hung out for like a month but I got NO play from her and then summer came along and I didn't see her again. If she hadn't been busy with some douche tonight I totally would have gone up to her. Damn that douche... she could do much better... e.g. >THIS GUY<
Oh well, you know what they say, girls don't like boys, they just like cars and bunnies, cest la vie, and all that jazz. Time to go sleep, I have to be up early for snowboarding tomorrow.

Old man winter strikes again

It is so cold outside that I had to make an entry about it because it totally sucks. Last I heard it was about -30c with windchill. As I was walking to work I kept spilling my Caramel Coretto coffee, and the damn thing was freezing onto the cup! The coffee would spill out, land on cup or my gloves and freeze on. I had icicles on my cup of coffee!! That's damn cold.

Now to segue into a totally different topic; How funny is it that the pornographers have produced a movie called Weapons of Ass Destruction? That movie should win an award solely on it's title. And I should win an award for the way I brilliantly tied my musical selection to the topic of this later half of my post.

Being slightly hungry today, me Chris a Gigli decided to take a drive out to Milton to get some nice tasty McDonalds. Why drive 30min out of the city to get McDonalds you ask? Because they make their fries with LOVE and it shows damn it!! Once we we're full of fries and double quarterpounders, we turned around and drove 30min back to Toronto... Okay so we didn't really drive out to Milton just for the fries, although they were quite good. No, the original purpose was to hit the snow park at Glen Eden. You know grind some rails, ride the pipe... <insert more mildly homo-erotic terms that mean to snowboard around a snow park> But alas, winter gleaming was DENIED, the damn place closed at 5!! Their stupid website said till 10, but those ski patrol guys obviously play by their own rules and don't adhere to preconceived notions of "time" and "operating hours". So with our gleam hopes dashed we headed back to Tonroto, but not without first dropping off at Mavis and the 401, for some... you all know where I'm going with this... that's right Krispy Kreme.

Full of glazing and fried dough our spirits we're once again lifted, Gil even got some free hot chocolate, so I suppose you could say she was doubly lifted in spirts(but I won't say it because it sounds stupid). So after the doughnuts we went to the ass crack of ski hills, Centenial (yay) the runs were short and boring and we only had an hour to ride before they closed, so not much fun was had. Despite the small, dinkyness of the hill I still managed to hurt myself, and by that I mean I smashed my tailbone, smashed it pretty hard. What happend was that while bombing down the hill I tried doing a switch on some slightly icy terrain. So in hindsight it was a really stupid move on my part. Anyways, off to recuperate and hopefully next week we can go back to Horseshoe and get some real gleaming happening. Now I'm off to soak in the hot tub and hope my ass heals.

Dr Grip

After work yesterday I bought myself two new pens. I had to hang around down town for a while, till the stores opened. Which kind of sucked since it was pretty nippy yesterday.
Anyways I ended up buying the Pilot Dr. Grip Gel pen, and the Pilot Hi-tecpoint V5 Grip (ink pen).

The Hi-Tec is working beautifuly, as is to be expected from this fine line of pens. The Dr Grip on the other hand is not working out. Which is kind of a shame since its a 15$ pen. The gel is nice and all, it produces some very nice solid lines, but its too thick. It's totally my blunder too because I was explicitly told in the pen review to get the Pilot P-500 Extra Fine or the P-700 Fine point. Those are both gel based pens but they have needle point tips, which are suppose to create very thin/clean/artist friendly/ lines.
The store I was at, unfortunately didn't carry them so I just went with the Dr Grip. I supose I'll endup hunting down a better pen store some time this weekend.

Now, many of you may be wondering why I posted this completely useless and pointless blog entry. The answer is because too many people were all "Hey, you haven't writtin anything new in a while. What's up with that?", well as of late, I've not had much to say, simple as that.

But if I must force myself to write something...

I just started reading "Peer to Peer: Harnessing The Power of Disruptive Technology", it's a nice book with contributions from something like 25 writers. Including Tim O'Reilly, Clay Shirky, Jon Udell, and a bunch of other people who I like to read.

Some of you might be thinking, "Does this mean he finished reading The Elegant Universe, and didn't post a review", well no, no it doesnt. I still have not finished that one. I'm sort of procrastinating and have put it aside for a while, partly because I'm good at procrastinating, and partly because the book is now in full swing with quantum theory, and everyone knows how much I love quantum mechanics. But I'll get back to it, I promise.
