Slashdot a viable news source?

I'm just getting home, (crashed at DC's last night), and needless to say that the first thing I did after my shower was fire up Tribe to read the latest going-ons(ya its a word) in the world of Slashdot and blogs.

One headline on /. struck me as odd since it wasn't about SCO or Linus sneezing, or someone releasing a new RFC. It said "Saddam Hussein Arrested", I said to myself "waaaaaaaaaah?" (yes I used the Ghandi voice), and clicked on the news story. And wouldn't you know it, Saddam really has been arrested, and I heard it from Slashdot of all places. You'd figure I would have heard about something like that earlier in the day. I suppose this proves that my active filtering of corporate media "news" sources has been effective. On the other hand I had no idea that it was going to snow today, and ventured back home wearing far too few layers for this kind of weather. So I guess the point of this section of the paragraph is that I have to get ready to go winter gleaming (snowboarding for the uninitiated)

Before I go get ready though, I must proclaim that DC's desktop setup is sweeter than he led on. I was Photoshoping in god damn linux!! Fuck the Gimp this was honest to goodness Photoshop, running on the penguin. And Editpad too!! It was quite impressive.
