Who carved the best damn jack-o-lantern at work?
Thats right, it was THIS GUY. What did I carve you ask? It was the most scarriest of things I could think of: Clippy the helpful microsoft paperclip.

I'll try and put up a picture of it later on.

Mac and cheese

mood: Queasy

Being lunch time, and a lazy kind of day. I went to eat lunch in the buildings caffeteria.

There was a half decent looking hot tray of Mac and Cheese. So I got a large plate of it along with some grapefruit juice., then proceded to the cashier.
I go to pay and she says it cost 7$..... SEVEN FUCKING DOLLARS FOR A SHITTY BOWL OF MAC AND CHEESE AND A BOTTLE OF JUICE. And I mean SHITTY, it was this pale, white globular mess of cheese facsimile, that made me sick from its overpowering cheesyness.

I left more then 60% of the paste in the bowl, when I walked away from it. So I think it's safe to say that those bastards on the 4th floor will NEVER see THIS GUY again

Moonlighting (Bruce Willis style)

My first night of moonlighting from Noizex and I'm so god damn tired!!

I had to do a 3D mockup for a DVD menu. They needed something to show their client first thing this morning. So after getting home at 7pm I tried to start work on it right away. Unfortunately my PC didn't want to help me get my job done. Illustrator decided to be a bitch and did not want to open the Illustrator sketch files I was sent. After hunting down my setup CD and doing a reinstall of it aswell as looking for help on google, I was still unable to get it to open the damn files.

I'll leave out the gory details but by the time I got everything setup, and the Illustrator files opened in Freehand, it was 12am. I then had 3 hours of fun trying to match the look of the sketches and sample photos of car parts (it's some car related DVD). Eventually it was 15min till 3am and I was about to pass out. So I collapsed the PSD layers saved out tiff's with alpha channels and emailed them off. I then got 4hrs of sleep, got up at 7am and came to work (I'm day shift this week for training, I start night time next week).

This morning, about 10min ago actually. They called me up saying thanks for the work but the guy that was originally suppose to do them finished it on time so they are using them.

So basically I I'm a zombie right now for no god damn reason. Sure I'm billing them for 3hrs work but since it's not being used I'd rather have slept then get the money.

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

[addendum] If any of this post made no sense, then whatever, I'm half asleep, leave me along :P

Just a few minutes ago, me and the quicker picker upper aka jcloth, were down at the 7-11. I was in need of an oversized frozen drink product, so we stopped by to quench that thirst. Whilst walking in, from the corner of my eye, I spot none other then Shannen Doherty, peeking at me from the top of the magazine rack. I swaggered over to said rack and saw that, "OH MY GOD" she was on the cover of Playboy!!!

After hyperventilating, I grabbed the magazine and my Slurpee and went back to the car. As soon as I got in, I ripped the magazines protective wrap and dashed to page 168. What greeted us there was a topless perky breasted Shannen in some totally art class 101 looking shots, we flipped through the next few pages expecting to be treated to some more "risque" or dare I say it "erotic" pictures, but there was bupkus!! Just her in totally tame, PG-13 style topless poses. For a $9 publication I expected WAY more. I feel totally ripped-off, tomorrow I'm calling Silverman Helps.

And to think, I was planning on buying the new issue of Wired (the one with Linus on the cover), and I now feel I made the wrong nerd vs pr0n decision.

I just read the most ammusing of quotes, spoken by one Gerald Penn, a professor at the U of T.

If I were chained to a bench and 'Perl' was the only thing that could open the lock, I'd probably cut my hand off.

Now, I'm not saying I bare any ill will towards Perl. It's just that I've had the pleasure of using it and would not want to handle a lock emergency with it. Although I imagine some Monk could find a way to open that lock.

Snowboard show 2003

Yesterday me and Chris attended the 2003 Ski / Snowboard show. It was a fun time, as always, lots of walking was involved, and insanely overpriced drinks and food stuff were consumed. But the deals we found were nothing to be scoffed at. I acquired some Burton gortex laden gloves, and a nice tshirt for practically nothing, as well as a nice new Lock that I was in desperate need of. I was also in the market for a pair of goggles and a helmet (to be safe when trying some of the riskier jumps we have planned for jcloths "snow park"). But, I didn't find anything that didnt look ugly as Lise(OUCH! that came out of nowhere ;) so the hunt continues.
We also picked up alot of brochures and pamphlets for the big mountain resorts in Alberta, BC, and Quebec. I'm dying to try out some of those hills, they look so damn sweet. It's clear to me now, that I must get my hand on a wad of cash so I can hit one of them this season.

Later that night, we headed down to the Opera House, for a little party that Snowboard Canada Magazine was throwing. It was their 8th annual party and film premier, but it was the first time anyone had told us about it! Anyways, it was a good party, plenty of honeys and Evian. They also had a ton, and I mean a TON, of swag given to them by all of their sponsors to get rid of. So they were doing raffles all night, I think they gave away something like 8 boards, including an autographed Sims Fader board featuring a nude Jenna Jameson. They also gave away DVD's tons of clothes, toques, jackets, etc. It was a mad house, and all we ended up with were 2 DVD's :( Next year I'm buying 10 entrances just so I have a better chance of getting a wining ticket number!!

Of the two movies they premired the first one was quite good, the second one was nothing special. Reflections, was the first, it was a 16mm piece, and I highly recommend it. If it didn't cost 39$ bloody dollars I would have picked up a copy. The second movie was so memorable I can't even recall it's name. So obviously Reflections is the way to go.

That about wraps up the snowboarding weekend of fun. To recap, Reflections is a great movie, and I need a wad of cash to hit the big hills this season ;)

Movie: Matrix Reloaded

Matrix Reloaded came out on DVD and VHS home video today. And I being the duty obeying geek that I am, went down to the store with the intent of purchasing it. But once I got to the store my plans quickly changed, the movie was on sale for $28.99, I did a double take and promptly said my pat©-ented "bullshit" line. The movie is $14 in the states, but twice as much here, with our Loonies current record high exchange rate, the price conversion doesnt even come close to the markup that these Warner Brothers bastards are gouging us with.
Being quite pissed off I decided to rent the movie instead of buying it. I figured that it was better to wait for them to gouge me all at once with the Trilogy box set, then in small gouges here and there.

The first thing I watched was the Disc-2 special features, because honestly, I've been dying to see explanations and behind the scenes, on how they pulled off some of those amazing rendered, computer graphics, shots. The only problem with that, was that they don't bloody cover the CG shots on that disc!! They just have some featuretts about some of the practical effects, like the car chase and kung fu stuff. And stuff about the Enter the Matrix game, and the matrix product tie-ins commercials, thats right a making-of the COMMERCIALS... yay!! commercials... honestly, who gives a rats ass?.
The featurettes were pretty cool for what they covered, but still I was let down. And boy am I glad I didn't buy it, that box-set is bound to come with a Revisited type full length dvd covering Reloaded in way more detail.

The movie of course was a delight to watch again, actually I saw it twice in a row. I talked about it before when I saw it in theatres so I won't cover it again, but I'll just say that I'm picking up way more stuff now that I have the power to rewind and replay scenes ad nauseam :)

One thing that I had not noticed until the second viewing today was a line that Morpheus says at the very end, right when the Nebekanezer blows up. He says, "I dreamed a dream, but now that dream is gone from me." Now I'm not 100% sure if it's suppose to be a reference to Les Misérables and the "I Dreamed a Dream" song, but if it is, thats just damn brilliant referencing on the Wachowskis part. Morpheus leaving off with those lines while we await "Revolutions"...

Doug and Mel's wedding

As has been mentioned, today was Doug and Mels wedding. The ceremony took place in Oshawa at the lovely Lakeview park. We got there a bit late to catch the actual ceremony, but the location was indeed lovely. There was a lake, and a gazebo in which the wedding took place (or so I was told). Being late was totally not my fault though, Bashtard was driving so everything can be blamed on him. I was surprisingly ready on time, he just took long getting to my place, just because he wanted "working" breaks installed in his car.
So to cover up the fact that we were late, the plan was to show up in a bunch of pictures in the park, so as to make it look like we had been there all along. I think that plan went well and no one noticed, and when someone did point out that they saw us get there late, we pointed out that Mills did it too (because you gotta bring everyone down with you, thats rule #1 ;).

Once the park festivities were over, everyone jumped into their cars and drove up to the Legion for the reception. But on the way there we hit a slight snag. The problem was that looking for this Bond St. in the directions, left us off at some place with a tank on its front lawn called the Oshawa Armoury. Now this place looked cool and all but there was no trace of a reception party going on there, so we ask a townie that walked by if he knew where this Legion was. This old man was TRIPPIN, and although quite insane, he did manage to lead us back in the right direction.

Bashtard, Mills, and I managed to get to the Legion in once piece and partake of the the celebration. The start of the reception was nice, you know the usual affair, food, wine, coke on the rocks, speeches, that whole ball of yarn. After that was over the DJ came by and insulted all of table 20. You see our table was comprised of myself, bashtard, woswin, and mills, thats right NO girls. I'm not sure how that seating arrangement came about but there you have it, a table full of guys. So the DJ comes by and says to us "hey theres no ladies at this table" then he chuckled and said "I guess this is the sausage party back here"*. After everyone held me back from slugging him, we proceeded to enjoy the rest of the festivities.
There was lots of mingling, snacking, and more mingling. Things that stand out from it at the moment include the DJ having his ass threatened to be kicked by no less then 5 people, including a member of the wedding couple, and a member of his family. Now you know that someone is pissing people off if the betrothed are raising their pitchforks. Also coming to memory was a rousing round of the chicken dance, DC's brother doing some chair dance that was too similar to nsyncs chair dance, to not be disturbing, pissing off the Mad Russian by taking pictures of him dancing with one of the brides maids, and falling on my ass while dancing to god knows what in a failed attempt at a cool break dancing move.

After the reception wrapped up, and getting past an insanely convoluted attempt at making plans by Mycophile. We went back to DC's parents place to drop off and pick up stuff. Then we dashed off towards the golden arches drive-through for some food.
I ordered a combo, and Bashtard got fries or something, the total came out to a bit under $8. All I had on me was a fifty that the bank machine gave me, so I handed that Mackenzie King over to Bashtard to pay.
The drive through window #1 kid took the money and gave back the change to Bashtard. Upon receiving the change he started counting it, the window #1 kid in a surly voice says to him "It's $45", Bashtard gives him a "whatever" and hands me the money. As we approach the food window I recount the change and notice that it wasnt $45 that he gave back, it was $55. Mind you even the $45 was too much change to have given back, but $55 was just laugh outloud wrong. Had the little punk not been so surly maybe we would have corrected him, and given the money back, but he brought down my wrath upon himself with his bad attitude. So we drove off with food and $5 extra dollars.

* Not actually said, but it was quite implied.

Yay, I have tickets for the Deftones next month. And it all went alot more smoothly then the ticket acquisition process from the last time the Deftones were in town. I'm not talking about the stupidly over priced, no one went to see them for 102$, Metallica/deftones tour. No, I'm talking about their show at the Air Canada Center, for the White Pony tour. The ticket acquisition for that show was filled with way too much drama. And all because a certain person that shall remain nameless didnt know how to properly communicate :P
But I digress... I have tickets, I'm happy. W00T!!
