OMG I just found the coolest thing: Teddy: A Sketching Interface for 3D Freeform Design. It's a simple java applet so you can start playing wiht it right away. And then after you have tons of fun with it download the stand alone version called SmoothTeddy, it lets you save your models, and paint them!! I'm off to make some bad ass chibis :)
