I just came back from a screening of the new Tomb Raider, Cradle of Life. In order to not build up any suspense I'll just come out and say that it was a ripping good time.
The movie started off with the delectable Miss Jolie in a bikini, and slipping into a latex bodysuit. Other then a corset scene what else could you ask for? But yes, everyone knows Angelina is hot, and that alone did not save the first movie from royally sucking. So I went into this one with some trepidation, expecting the worst.
Luckily this time around they ditched all that lame daddy baggage and those gimmicky scenes, and ill conceived plot lines. They made a good old fashion ass kicking action movie. It had some comedy, some romance, lots of action, and some wicked bad camera moves (satellite view of china dropping down to her riding a dirt bike down the great wall of china, all in one continuous shot!! It looked great).
In fact my only complaint about the movie is in regards to who ever the hell did their title sequences and promotional material. The title for the movie was SO badly made it looks like some god damn deviantart kid with a new copy of True Space or Bryce whipped it up. Seriously I've seen better output from the 3DS Max Scanline renderer. It's nice that they kept the same font from the original game series but doing 3 bevel/extrudes on it and then calling it a night is REALLY no way to pay homage to the franchise.
So to wrap things up, movie good, Angelina hot, titles for movie horrid. On the Angelina rating system 1 being Life or Something Like It and 5 being Hackers, I give it a 4. Good fun for the whole family.
