Call me naive, ( "NAIVE" ) but I had never really given thought as to what might happen to a coupon after I hand it back to a vendor and redeem it for the goodies it claims to bring.
Today however, I was exposed to the dark and dirty underbelly of the beast. I oversaw an exchange of a previously used coupon.
At first I had guessed that its withered appearance was just due to under use. Sitting in a wallet, one day waiting to be redeemed... but no!! No, it was a previously used coupon that some shifty business operator had handed over to a friend and/or relative, and not done his noble deed of destroying, as to avoid such dirty trade.
Then I thought back, what about all those times that I had felt special and had my 15 seconds of pride for getting something free or at a reduced price? Now I find out that someone else might experience those same feelings as I, but having used my hard earned coupon.
